The National Media Commission, NMC, has stated that its work is being impeded due to inadequate infrastructure and poor budget allocation to the commission.

The chairman of the National Media Commission, Mr. Yao Boadu Ayeboafo, has appealed for more financial aid to help strengthen the staffing system of the commission for strong and more effective works.

He made the call known at a three day orientation held in the Volta Regional capital, Ho, for the members of the National Media Commission in the region. According to him, as a result of financial constraints, they are not being able to employ more competent people with the requisite credentials to help bring forth their acumen for a thorough job in the country and therefore it encumbers their duties.

The role of the National Media Commission amongst other things, included supervision and monitoring of the media landscape in the country. The commission has the legal right to sanction media houses that go contrary to media ethics and violate code of ethics or conduct to order so as to bring sanity to the airwaves.
