Assembly Members of the  Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal do Assembly on Wednesday 29th September,2021 confirmed Hon. Kojo Acquah who is the President’s nominee for the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) position.

The nominee had 100% yes votes with all 20 votes cast made up of 13 elected assembly members and 7 government appointees approving his nomination in an election conducted at the  forecourt of the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Acquah was thankful to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the opportunity to serve the people of Effia-Kwesimintsim and promised to work tirelessly to boost the implementation of the government’s flagship programmes and policies for a more positive impact in the lives of the people.

The Presiding Member (PM) for Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality in the Western Region, John Davis, had already thrown his weight behind the incumbent.

“Having worked with Hon. Kojo Acquah as the Right Honourable Presiding Member of the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly, I write to justify why His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo must re-appoint him to serve in his new government as Municipal Chief Executive,”
John Davis said.

According to him, “The level of cooperation with all machinery of the Assembly is worth emulating. He is a team player, proactive, a perfectionist, straight, truthful and an achiever.

“Being one of the newly created 38 metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies in 2018, it is public knowledge that EKMA has been outstanding,” he underscored.

“He has been the powerhouse of the successes chalked by the assembly despite the fact that it was created just recently,” the PM said.

Also present at the function was the Western regional minister Kwabena Okyere Darko, the Member of Parliament for Kwesimintsim Constituency Hon. Hamid Armah, DCE for Mpohor Asaah Mensah, MP for Mpohor Hon. John, Metropolitan Chief Executive of Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) Hon. Issah Mumin, Traditional leaders, clergy amongst others.

Nicknamed the ‘Action Man’, Hon. Kojo Acquah, the longest-serving Regional Organiser of the NPP for the Western Region, is seen as a grassroot man who has combined his experience so well to bring the needed development and cohesion into the municipality.

Many of the party faithfuls who have spoken on the development believe it is in the interest of the party and government to allow him to continue as the MCE.
