Some three illicit miners have been confirmed dead after a mining pit fell on them at Akyem Apenamang close to Akwatia in Denkyembuor District in the Eastern area.
The perished have been recognized as Akosua Asantewaa, 41, Yaw Ntiamoah,35, and Yaw Bismark,25.
The episode happened Wednesday, September 8, at about 11:50 am
The expired people were allegedly occupied with unlawful mining when the pit collapsed on them.
Gathering part for Akyem Apinamang John Boakye said he got data at about 12:00pm that a gold mining pit has fallen on certain diggers around the old Apinamang burial ground which announced the episode to Police at about 2:00 pm.
He said, along with the police, they hurried to the scene and discovered three bodies covered with leaves.
The bodies were passed on and saved at the St.Dominic Hospital Morgue at Akwatia.
The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh revealed to Starr News Akwatia police has started examination concerning the occurrence.
