The Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Honourable Hawa Koomson has been sighted in a video together with some elders ‘locking’ up the sea to mark the closed season in Ghana.
The occasion symbolized the one-month closing of the fishing season barring all fishermen across the country from fishing. An initiative to enable fishes to better reproduce and allow a constant supply of fishes without facing massive depletion of our fishes in the ocean.
According to the Minister, there will be no fishing till August 31st 2021.
In the video, the sector Minister was seen holding a large wooden key mid-air turning it to the right three times amid cheering from the crowd.
