The Chief of Agogo Zongo in the Ashanti Region, also known as Jesire Kurom, Alhaji Mohammed Abdul Hamid and his entourage inspected a10 unit classroom block constructed by the Zongo Development Fund.
He commended government for delivery to its promise to the people of the Zongo community.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on the day of inspection, the director of the project at the Zongo Development Fund, Adam Abdul Majeed, has that the Zongo Development Fund (ZDF) was established to bridge the gap between the Urban community and Zongo community.
He said the firm has also enrolled a lot of Zongo youths of about 40 who were sent to Cuba to study Medicine.
Over 1000 students benefited from the fund and the beneficiaries are those doing their PHD, Degree and Diploma.
According to him, there is a need to build capacity of the Zongo youth.
The fund has also build 3,000 mechanized boreholes across the country.
“We have needs assessment and it has been established that about 3,640 Zongo’s across the globe, so the fund was able to construct 500 forty seater toiletries across the zongo communities. Again the fund has also built 350 schools fully furnished” he stated.
Adam Abdul Majeed mentioned that not all of the youths can go to school so the fund has established entrepreneurship programme that will provide skills training such as coconut extraction, beards making, shea butter production, soap and hand sanitizer making which is expected to benefit about 10,000 youths.
“The fund has also builT15 Astro turf so that we can identify the potential talent of Zongo youth. they have done drains and roads in some Zongo communities” he added.
